Neighborhood Partner – East Lawrence Neighborhood Association

A paid position is offered to represent the East Lawrence Neighborhood Association in the Rebuilding East Ninth Together project. The position is approximately ¼ time, approximately 10 hours per week, for the two year period of the project. Anyone from East Lawrence can apply. The ELNA Board/project subcommittee will be responsible for administering the process of recommendation for hiring to the project. The Neighborhood Partner will work closely with ELNA and residents, the Lawrence Arts Center Coordinator to the project and the Project Facilitator. (The LAC Coordinator and the Project Facilitator are to be determined at this time.)

 

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

Responsibilities to the Project

With the LAC Coordinator and a selection committee, hire a Project Facilitator

Overall project management in conjunction with LAC Coordinator and Project Facilitator

for example:

Review artist proposals

Select jurors for submissions

Coordinate with the LAC Coordinator and Project Facilitator, with project artists,

LAC, ELNA, assistants, resident specialists, youth corps, and other

collaborators to the project

Maintain a timely and informative public communication page (i.e. website/Facebook page)

Set up, attend, and assist with meetings and input sessions

Assist to document and evaluate the project continuously, culminating in a final project report

Responsibilities to ELNA

Communications and outreach with East Lawrence Neighborhood

Open communication and collaboration with ELNA Board and Coordinator

Attend all monthly ELNA meetings to provide a status update

 

Required Qualifications:

As a Resident of East Lawrence

Intimate familiarity with the neighborhood, its history, values, and population

Willingness and ability to work closely with ELNA leadership and members

As a Communicator

Experience and the ability to demonstrate expertise generating information for print, web, social media, and

other venues

Impeccable organization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

ELNA resident

Understanding of City process

Familiarity with community art in general
