Hello ELNA friends,
About this time each year, ELNA facilitates an Adopt a Family project, This year, in response to a different need in our community, ELNA has decided to Adopt an Agency instead.
You may have read in recent media that Headquarters Counseling Center, right here in East Lawrence, located at 211 E 8th, is in dire financial crisis. Headquarters provides a vital Suicide Prevention service, not just in Lawrence, but statewide, answering calls from Kansans in crisis 24/7 365 days. Statistically, this time of year, and in light of devastating current events, Headquarters services are more important now than ever before. Their doors were ready to close on December 31st if they didn’t receive adequate funding. Thankfully, the worst of the crisis has passed, and Headquarters has enough to work through the new year. But! We’re not done yet! East Lawrence can help!
Headquarters recently received a call from the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services, offering a matching grant of up to $25,000 for any donations they receive between now and December 31st. Let’s help Headquarters match that donation! Every donation Headquarters receives up to $25,000 between now and Dec. 31st will be matched by KDADS. $9,204 has already been raised, so we only have another $16,000 to go to fully take advantage of the matching grant.
Please consider donating to Headquarters, whatever you would have normally donated to the Adopt a Family project — whether it be $10, or $50, every amount helps.
