Regarding ELNA Meeting 11/6/17:
Special Notice: Election Procedures, Thanks Chris, Updated Agenda
Hello East Lawrence friends and neighbors,
We’ve had a last minute withdrawal from our 2017-2018 Board candidate list, and so have decided to change the procedures for tonight’s election.
First, we’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to Board Member Chris Lempa for his year of service on our board, and for his many years of service in our community. Because Chris is moving sooner than he anticipated when declaring his intent to run for the Board in October, he has therefore withdrawn his name from the ballot. Chris has served as Vice President of the 2016-2017 Board supporting the Board President, initiating the Adopt an Agency effort last winter, helping out at our Sunday night Kickball concessions, taking on many extraneous social media and communications tasks, and various other duties large and small for East Lawrence. We thank him and he will be missed!
Because of Chris’s withdrawal, the candidate list is reduced to thirteen, the maximum number of open board member slots, and the standing ELNA Board has voted by majority to suspend the candidate election as previously advertised. Instead of asking ELNA members to select thirteen candidates of a field of fourteen (now only thirteen), attendees to tonight’s meeting and election will be asked to accept the slate of candidates proposed. ELNA members in attendance at tonight’s meeting will be asked to respond by voice, yay or nay, to accept the slate of candidates. Candidates and their interviews can be found on our website http://www.eastlawrence.com/november-elna-meeting-and-election/.
Finally, we’d like to notify our friends and neighbors of yet another last minute addition to tonight’s meeting agenda. Cindy Maude, Interim Director of the Lawrence Arts Center, has requested to attend tonight’s meeting, as well as to be added to December’s monthly meeting agenda. Ms Maude received an update from the grant folks over the weekend, and would like to share that information with us ASAP. Ms Maude will give attendees a brief update on the status of the grant in the recurring items section of the agenda. A more lengthy update and presentation will be given at the December 4th ELNA meeting.
