MAKE A WISH: COMMUNITY IDENTITY AND OUTSIDER ART IN EAST LAWRENCE, KANSAS
A project conceptualized by Suzan Hampton and funded by the Kansas Humanities Council and the East Lawrence Neighborhood Association.
In July of 2022 we conducted an in-person “East Lawrence Culture and Outsider Art Talk ‘n Walk” walking tour and informal lecture that began at The Wishing Bench, continued past several neighborhood art and cultural heritage landmarks, and ended at the funky, DIY neighborhood Saturday Arts Emergency Outdoor Arts Market.
Also included in the project is a field guide with map and a simplified map of the tour.
